How to make Cupcake Lollipops

I actually made theses cupcake lollipops tonight using the left over chocolate cake from my Monday night mini-chocolate cupcake making session. I made them and individually wrapped them with ribbon and gift wrapping plastic wrap I bought from Michael's Arts and Crafts Store. I was motivated by the fact that it was a dear friend's birthday, and I made these for him instead of cake. They make a wonderful, simple gift. And since it is all handmade, it means a lot more then a store bought cake; at least that's what I'd like to think.

The steps to making this are almost exactly the same as the ones I explained in my earlier post. The only difference is to roll larger sized balls, and cut half of it off with a flower-shaped cookie cutter. Dip the bottoms in milk chocolate, turn it upside down, and stick a lollipop stick through it and let it sit in the fridge for awhile.

Here's how they look when only the bottoms are dipped in milk chocolate and the tops are still just cake. Once they look like this, you can just take it by the lollipop stick and twirl it around in the topping color, add some sprinkles, and top it off with an M&M.

And here's my final product all wrapped up. Sorry, I don't think it's that great of a picture, but they do look good in real life (must be all that glare from the plastic!). I was just thinking, these are cute stocking stuffers, or, you can even perhaps put a few of them in a bouquet with some babies breath to make a wonderfully delightful floral arrangement; if I decide to give it a try, I'll be sure to let you know.
